London Commands You - Truth - Single Review

Recently signed to ‘End of the Trail’ records, London Commands You released their debut single ‘On Her Own Again’ in July 2012. And now they will be releasing their new single Truth on the 12th November 2012.

Often cited as sounding like Joy Division I thought I was going to be listening to a mean and brooding song. Quite the opposite. The sound is upbeat and fast. Pounding drums, bring the song into effect. With the wailing, screaming guitar making the single sound very much like the Editors (who they have also been likened to). They do have one thing in common with the likes of Joy Division and that's the deep thought out lyrics and Lead singer, Nick Ryder's voice reminding me a bit of Brian Molko with its high intense pitching. Having listened to a few other tracks by the band, this seems quite a departure from other tracks and but one that works exceedingly well. It has a melodic bass line that hooks you in and though you may have to listen to it a few times to fully appreciate it , its worth doing so. My only negative comment is that the video doesn't do justice to a well rounded and infectious song.

Nick Ryder - Vocals
Chloe Apatronymie- Keyboards, Guitar
Lauren Holden - Drums, Backing vocals
Oliver Webb - Bass
John Man - Guitar
