Courteeners announce release of a brand new EP How Good It Was

Courteeners announce the release of a brand new EP ‘How Good It Was’. The title track is taken from their hugely anticipated fourth album, ‘Concrete Love’, due on August 18 via [PIAS]. The EP features all brand new tracks, which aside from ‘How Good It Was’ will not feature on their new album or be available anywhere else.

‘How Good It Was’ EP

1. How Good It Was

2. Hometown One

3. Sunflower

4. Why Are You Still With Him?

The ‘How Good It Was’ EP is available now on iTunes. It follows the success of their taster track ‘Summer’ which was made available to fans earlier this month. According to lead singer and songwriter Liam Fray,

"With Summer we were just teasing. This is the real deal. I had the same feeling with ‘How Good It Was’ that I had with ‘Are You In Love With A Notion. As soon as I'd written it, it just felt right. It was a perfect fit straight away. Like an APC bomber jacket. We were honoured to have members of the BBC Philharmonic and Halle orchestras play on it too, which was incredible. The other three songs were really difficult to leave off the album in all honesty. They could've easily nestled in amongst the others on ‘Concrete Love’. ‘Why Are You Still With Him?’ was written in New York a few years ago about a good friend of mine. I'm happy to be able to finally give it a good home."

Written and recorded in part in Montmartre by Courteeners’ singer-songwriter Liam Fray last autumn, ‘Concrete Love’ is the band’s most rounded and satisfying record to date - its release coincides perfectly with the moment where they reach the peak of their live powers and comes off the back of three massive UK top ten albums. The album sees the band working again with regular collaborator/producer Joe Cross (Hurts/Chloe Howl).

As previously announced, Courteeners will headline the Radio 1/NME stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival and will also appear as special guests to The Killers at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park on August 19th.
