Dark Cabaret Rock Band Emily Danger Releases Peace Arch

Dark cabaret rock band Emily Danger has released the first single titled "Peace Arch" off their upcoming EP of the same name. The band that has been described as a “Radiohead meets Jeff Buckley and Heart” explores new musical territory as they incorporate psychedelic and classical stylings into "Peace Arch." Lead vocalist Emily Nicholas packs a punch with her over four-octave range and incredible versatility that shines on the soaring single while instrumentalist Cameron Orr plays creative synths reminiscent of Ok Computer. 

The story of "Peace Arch" comes from a time early on in the band's touring career when they were kicked out of Canada for lying about being in a band at the Peace Arch border crossing; only to come back the next day and get to their show on time. 

When writing the song, the band decided to use their experience at the border as a metaphor for pushing through obstacles. "Peace Arch is about persevering through false promises and recovering from doors being slammed in your face," lead vocalist Emily Nicholas says. "It's about people trying to get in, and never being allowed; rejection and the need to be accepted."

Emily's words will certainly resonate with the youth of today. She sings, "Turn around or follow through, it's up to you. Now the doubt is creeping in, my vital signs, rehearse the lines. Their words are all I heard," to show the choice you have and the very real feelings of doubt and rejection that people face. But the song ends with the lines, "Turn around or follow through, it's up to you. Now the doubt has come and gone. We'll move along, we'll move beyond," showing that the doubt does go away and one can push through, even if one is stuck in an interrogation room en route to Canada.
